Three new Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) education modules are available for health care professionals on the Provincial Health Services Authority Learning Hub. These modules contain new information related to recent legal changes.

Amendments to Nurse Practitioner Opioid Agonist Treatment Prescribing for Opioid Use Disorder standards, limits, conditions include prescribing of pharmaceutical alternatives for safer supply. These amendments take effect Jan. 3, 2022.

Survey: new cultural safety & humility practice standard

Since August 2020, BCCNM has been working with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC to develop a new shared standard on cultural safety and humility.

We are pleased to share the draft practice standard with you.

The survey will remain open until Friday, Dec. 3.

Prescription pad orders not processed over holiday break

Controlled prescription pad orders will not be processed between Dec. 21, 2021 and Jan. 4, 2022. Please submit prescription pad orders by Dec. 20, 2021 and ensure you have enough pads to last over the break.

Registration renewal timelines have changed!

BCCNM registration renewal will now take place from February to March each year. More details about renewal 2022 will be provided in January, but for more information on renewal requirements and details, check out our website.

Enrolling in PRIME

The Ministry of Health requires that all healthcare professionals using PharmaNet to deliver patient care participate in the PRIME program. This means nurses and midwives working in B.C. who use PharmaNet to care for patients will need to enrol in PRIME.

Inquiry, Discipline, and Monitoring updates


BCCNM publishes a variety of professional conduct notices on its website. These notices include consent agreements, Discipline Committee and Inquiry Committee notices, and Inquiry and Discipline hearing notices. While all of these notices are public information, only exceptional outcomes (i.e., Inquiry Committee order, Discipline order, hearing outcome) and circumstances (i.e., discipline hearing) are highlighted in registrant newsletters.
