Unshakeable confidence in nursing and midwifery care
Provincial health officer order
On March 14, 2021, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry issued a public health order expanding the number of health professionals who are able to administer a COVID-19 vaccine. Midwives, retired nurses, retired midwives, and nursing and midwifery students are among the regulated and unregulated health professionals listed in the order. This new order replaces her Feb. 23, 2021 order.
Request for proposals: Psychiatric nursing education program review team
BCCNM is seeking a team of two program evaluators to review a psychiatric nursing refresher certificate program. The deadline to apply is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 19.
Providing telehealth services
Later this year, BCCNM expects to implement the requirement that nurses and midwives providing any nursing or midwifery care to residents of B.C. by telehealth have registration in good standing with BCCNM.
Temporary emergency registration extension
Last year, BCCNM offered temporary emergency registration to assist with the healthcare response in B.C. Given the ongoing nature of the pandemic, we will be extending the end date of registration for temporary emergency registrants to Sept. 7, 2021.
Inquiry, discipline, and monitoring updates
BCCNM publishes a variety of professional conduct notices on its website. These notices include consent agreements, Discipline Committee and Inquiry Committee notices, and Inquiry and Discipline hearing notices.
While all of these notices are public information, only exceptional outcomes (i.e., Inquiry Committee order, Discipline order) and circumstances (i.e., discipline hearing) are highlighted in registrant newsletters.
Discipline & public notices
The BCCNM office will be closed on Friday, April 2 and Monday, April 5 for Easter.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our office is currently closed to walk-in traffic.
