Seeking feedback: Draft HPOA bylaws

The new Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA) will replace the Health Professions Act on April 1, 2026. To prepare for this change, BCCNM is redrafting our bylaws to align with the new legislation.

The draft bylaws are posted on our website. The draft bylaws will be released for consultation in groups for a 45-day period. We encourage you to review and provide any feedback that you may have during the consultation period.

Engagement opportunities

BCCNM regularly consults with registrants and regulatory partners before making changes to scope, standards, and policies that impact nursing and midwifery in B.C. A few opportunities are listed below; check out our Engagement & insights webpage to see all activities.

Entry-level competencies

Entry level competencies (ELCs) for RNs and LPN are currently being revised at the national level. BC registrants will be invited to provide feedback on the draft revised ELCs via survey and focus groups in winter 2025-26. Check the Engagements & insights webpage for details as they come.

Updating key contacts

The BCCNM Education Program Review (EPR) team maintains a list of key contacts for each approved education program. This list is used to communicate regulatory changes impacting educators and provide updates on the EPR process. If you need to update the contacts for your education program, please send us an email so we can update our records.
