Revisions to three practice standards for nurses

The BCCNM board approved revisions to the Consent, Privacy and Confidentiality, and Documentation practice standards. Changes ensure alignment with legislative requirements and evidence-based practice. Effective Aug. 5, 2025.

On June 2, 2025, the LPN, RN, and RPN scope of practice documents were rescinded, and the content transitioned to practice standards and learning resources.

Join B.C.’s Emergency Health Provider Registry

The Ministry of Health encourages you to consider registering with the Emergency Health Provider Registry (EHPR) to support emergency response in B.C.

The EHPR is an online registry of health-care professionals who may be available to be deployed on short notice. It is an important part of B.C.’s plan to ensure the health system is prepared to care for people in B.C. through any emergency.

Certified Practice updates: CM and STI

BCCNM has approved a new optional Contraceptive Management (CM) course for the insertion and removal of intrauterine contraception. To guide RN(C)s, NNPBC has developed a new corresponding Decision Support Tool (DST). An additional competency statement has been added for CM in the Certified Practice RN competencies.
