On Oct. 29, 2024, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a consent agreement between BCCNM and April Libiano of Surrey to address the unauthorized access of patient records between December 2021 and December 2022.
Nurses are only permitted to access personal and health information for purposes that are consistent with their professional responsibilities and are not permitted to access the health records of patients that are not in their care.
The registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a limit and/or condition on their practice, including:
a. A suspension of their nursing registration for two months,
b. A public reprimand, and
c. Remedial education on ethics.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
