On June 23, 2016 the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement. On July 28, 2014, Catherine Von Harpe (Prince) of Cranbrook, British Columbia, provided sole nursing care in the delivery of a baby at a hospital in which she was not employed. She used facility supplies and charted in the partogram for the patient. She communicated via text with staff nurses that she intended to provide sole care, though later stated the texts were in jest. The labour and delivery was carried out by the Registrant and attending physician. Investigation by her employer was resolved by her agreement to resign her employment.
The Registrant agreed to a 1-day suspension, and education and a regulatory practice consultation on ethics and professional boundaries in nursing.
