On July 15, 2020 a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNP and Nurse Practitioner Patricia Peterson of Quadra Island, to remediate practice issues related to effective patient education, prioritization, documentation and advocacy in the care of a patient from November 2017 to June 2018. For example, referrals for diagnostic screening over a three-month period should have been marked urgent and follow up and patient education regarding missed diagnostic appointments should have been documented and repeat in nature; patient handover and documentation should have been more complete. The Registrant engaged with investigation, providing prompt responses reflecting on her practise.
The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to complete two courses: Documentation: A Critical Aspect of Client Care; and, Nurse Practitioner as Most Responsible Provider, and has agreed to a reprimand and three-month period of supervision and peer mentorship.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
