Jensen, Amy, RN

Consent agreement

Jun 18, 2021

On June 18, 2021 a panel of the Inquiry Committee  approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and Amy Jensen of Calgary, AB, to address practice issues that occurred from April to September 2020. While working in a care facility, Ms. Jensen did not appropriately respond to and/or assess four patients who fell (including one with a hip fracture) or when apprised of a patient with a catheter issue and another with periods of unresponsiveness (with risk of aspiration). She used bodily fluids from the floor for a culture sample rather than swabbing a patient. Her documentation was not to standard on multiple occasions and she did not complete assigned tasks as required on at least three occasions. Investigation confirmed a pattern of poor collaborative care and interpersonal communication.

The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to an 8-month suspension followed by a 5-year Limit prohibiting any patient contact (including in-person and over the phone).

The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
