Consent agreement

Nov 27, 2021

On November 27, 2021, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and the Registrant to address practice issues that occurred in April 2020. Specifically, the Registrant failed to follow a care plan for a resident by engaging in communication that triggered safety risks for patients and staff. The Registrant admitted to being impaired on the shift in question and was later diagnosed with a substance use disorder.

The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a limit and/or condition on their practice, including:

  1. A limit on practice designed to prevent the circumstances leading to the practice concern from reoccurring, including oversight and limits on being in-charge or sole RN for a period of time.

  2. Regular reports from treating physicians regarding compliance with treatment recommendations.

  3. Disclosure of treatment recommendations to relevant employer representative(s).

The name of the Registrant has been withheld in accordance with section 39.3 (4) (a) of the Health Professions Act for the purposes of not identifying the personal health information of the Registrant respecting the condition.

The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
