On December 23, 2021, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and Gurvinder Dosanjh of Surrey, to address practice issues that occurred between June 2020 and October 2021. Gurvinder Dosanjh did not follow policies and procedures related to the use of Seclusion Rooms, did not follow patient Care Plans and contravened the Suicide Protocols, all of which could have put patients at risk of harm. Gurvinder Dosanjh demonstrated disrespectful conduct in the workplace by making derogatory comments about their colleagues and using profanity. They failed to follow their Manager's directions; and committed time theft when they claimed to have fulfilled a position with a differential wage when they did not in fact take on that role.
During the course of the investigation into their nursing practise, Gurvinder Dosanjh did not abide by the terms and conditions of Interim Undertakings given to BCCNM on numerous occasions, putting into question their ability to belong to a self-regulating profession and to recognize the authority of the Regulator.
The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a limit and/or condition on their practice, including:
A suspension of their nursing registration for six months;
A condition requiring them to complete remedial education offered by the Integrity Group;
A limit prohibiting them from being the Code White lead; and applying physical restraints for six months
A limit requiring them to work only at a single site; and with a Supervision Agreement for one year;
A limit prohibiting them from being the nurse in charge; supervising or mentoring students or new staff for one year post suspension;
Developing a learning plan, which will be shared with their employer and with BCCNM; and
A regulatory practice consulting program to address the foundational issues underpinning this Agreement.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
