Consent agreement

Jan 4, 2022

On January 4, 2022, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and the Registrant wherein the Registrant agreed to conditions and/or limits on their nursing practice to ensure their fitness to practice. The terms of the Consent Agreement include, but are not limited to:

  1. A limit on practice designed to prevent the circumstances leading to the practice concern from reoccurring.

  2. Regular reports from treating physicians regarding compliance with treatment recommendations.

  3. Disclosure of treatment recommendations to relevant employer representative(s).

The Agreement will remain in place for a minimum of 3.5 years of continuous nursing practice.

The reasons for the Inquiry Committee decision are as follows:

  1. The Registrant was found to have diverted narcotics from the workplace for personal use over a period of approximately three months. The Registrant admitted to the conduct and disclosed a substance use disorder.

  2. The diagnosis of the disability was endorsed in an independent medical assessment, confirming a health concern that could impact the ability to provide safe patient care.

  3. A subsequent independent medical assessment identified the Registrant as currently fit to practice nursing in accordance with limits and treatment recommendations.

The name of the Registrant has been withheld in accordance with section 39.3 (4) (a) of the Health Professions Act for the purposes of not identifying the personal health information of the Registrant respecting the condition.

The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
