On February 23, 2022, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and Daniel Lagaran of Surrey, B.C. to address practice issues that occurred on October 26, 2020 and August 29, 2021 arising in long-term care related to (1) not following the COVID-19 protocols for monitoring and documenting residents' temperature values on one occasion, and (2) roughly handling a resident while removing an item from their hands, resulting in bruising to the upper arm.
The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a limit and/or condition on their practice, including:
A suspension of their nursing registration for one week;
Remedial education in Documentation, Dementia, and Working with Responsive behaviours;
Contingent terms for direct and indirect workplace supervision of their nursing practice for 6 months, equivalent to a Limit;
A regulatory practice consulting program to address the foundational issues underpinning this Agreement.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
