On October 11, 2022, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and the Registrant wherein the Registrant agreed to a suspension of twelve months and limits on their nursing practice to ensure their fitness to practice. The terms of the Consent Agreement include, but are not limited to:
- Regular reports regarding compliance with biological monitoring and treatment recommendations.
- Disclosure of treatment recommendations to relevant employer representative(s).
- Limits on practice designed to prevent the circumstances leading to the practice concern from reoccurring.
- A suspension of twelve-months retroactively effective to the date the conduct was admitted to.
The Agreement will remain in place for a minimum of four years of continuous nursing practice. The reasons for the Inquiry Committee decision are as follows:
- The Registrant was identified as ordering and removing a notable amount of narcotics from the workplace in spring 2020, later acknowledged as being removed for self-use.
- The Registrant provided an independent medical assessment documenting a health concern to BCCNM related to the misconduct and which could impact the ability to provide safe patient care; and
- The independent medical assessment and related agreement provided information about treatment and monitoring recommendations.
The name of the Registrant has been withheld in accordance with section 39.3 (4) (a) of the
Health Professions Act for the purposes of not identifying the personal health information of the Registrant respecting the condition.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
