On July 6, 2023, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and Patsy Perkull, RN, of Quesnel, B.C., to address practice issues that occurred between April 17 and 20, 2022, related to two separate incidents where the registrant did not provide pertinent and relevant patient information to a physician when seeking directions and orders related to the care of vulnerable patients certified under the Mental Health Act. The registrant acted contrary to the patients' plans of care and her actions served to undermine the multi-disciplinary team approach to safe, ethical, and competent care for vulnerable patients. Further, the registrant engaged in unprofessional communication while at work by disparaging colleagues.
The registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a limit and/or condition on their practice, including:
- A suspension of their nursing registration for 5 days.
- Remedial education related to: interpersonal conflict in the workplace, interdisciplinary care planning, understanding the scope of RN practice, and professional standards for RNs.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
