BCCNM board rescinds five joint statements published by legacy colleges

Oct 4, 2022

The BCCNM board on Sept. 29, 2022, rescinded five joint statements: Orders and Delegation; Managing Labour; Pharmacists' Authority to Adjust, Interchange and Substitute Medication OrdersRegistered Dietitians' Authority to Recommend Vitamins and Minerals for Therapeutic Diets; and Dispensing Medications.

Published between 2007 and 2014 by the legacy nursing and midwifery colleges, these statements aimed to clarify for registrants and employers the scopes of practice for each of the health professions when there was overlap in their scopes of practice related to certain restricted activities. They are no longer relevant due to amendments to Regulations, experience in practice, and/or establishment of standards.

This change takes effect immediately.
