BCCNM launches new education program review process

Mar 7, 2025

Education is the foundation of safe and ethical nursing practice. As part of our mandate, BCCNM reviews and recognizes midwifery and nursing education programs in B.C. to ensure they meet the education standards and indicators approved by the board and prepare graduates to meet the requirements for initial registration.

Following the amalgamation of the nursing and midwifery colleges, BCCNM has developed a new education program review process to consistently review all midwifery and nursing education programs.

On Feb. 27, 2025, the BCCNM Board approved revised Education Program Review Policies, which are in effect immediately for:

  • Recognized programs with a recognition date in 2026 or later
  • Proposed new education programs
Programs with a recognition date in 2025 will continue with the legacy process for their upcoming review.
