We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Siem Te’ta-in, Sound of Thunder (Shane Pointe), Coast Salish Knowledge Keeper, on receiving​ the first-ever Honorary Doctorate of Original Laws (HDOL) from the Native Education College (NEC).

Siem Te’ta-in of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nation has been a trusted advisor and Knowledge Keeper to the college for many years. His generosity in sharing knowledge, truths, and teachings, plays a vital role in shaping our work to advance our commitments to eradicate Indigenous-specific racism within the​​ B.C. health care system. Our work continues to be guided by his wisdom, compassion, and unwavering generosity. 


Awarded on July 25, this is the first honorary doctorate ever conferred by NEC. It is a fitting recognition of a lif​​e devoted to preserving and uplifting Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing.
