Exam development opportunity for LPNs and RNs

Jan 8, 2026

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is seeking licensed practical nurses (LPN) or registered nurses (RN) who are interested in participating in an upcoming meeting.  The REx PN® Standard Setting Panel of Judges meeting is scheduled for June 9-11, 2026, in Chicago, IL, to discuss entry-level LPN activities.  NCSBN will cover travel-related expenses, including airfare, lodging and meals, for selected panel members.

The Standard Setting Panel of Judges plays a critical role in providing important information, based on the experience and knowledge gained from working with entry-level nurses, to the Practical Nurse Examination Committee (PNEC) for setting the final passing standard for the next five years of the REx PN exam. The latest REx PN Test Plan will take effect on January 1, 2027.

To be considered for participation, you must meet the following criteria:

  • LPN or RN with BCCNM practicing registration and in good standing
  • Employed as a nurse for at least 2 years
  • Current clinical practice
  • Faculty member who currently supervises basic/undergraduate LPN students in the clinical area
  • Works with, precepts and/or supervises newly licensed LPNs within their first 12 months of practice

To apply, please email your name and resume or curriculum vitae to epr@bccnm.ca by Feb 20, 2026, with “Rex-PN Standard Setting Panel of Judges" in the subject line and confirm in the email your availability to attend the meeting from June 9-11, 2026 in Chicago, IL.

Note:  BCCNM is recruiting prospective volunteers on behalf of NCSBN.  NCSBN staff will contact selected volunteers directly with next steps and provide an online volunteer application.
