Updated: May 29 OSCE cancelled; next writing in September 2021

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve in B.C. COVID-19 cases have increased significantly, and provincial restrictions to stop transmission of the virus include the requirement to avoid non-essential travel between communities. In light of the current circumstances, BCCNM has made the difficult decision to cancel the Family & Pediatric OSCE scheduled for May 29, 2021. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work to protect the health and safety of our applicants, employees, volunteers and the public. 

If you you are waiting to take the OSCE and are not currently registered in B.C., please contact Registration Services to determine whether you are eligible for provisional nurse practitioner or practising registered nurse registration.

We are hopeful that conditions will improve enough to hold the fall writing of the OSCE for Adult, Family and Pediatric streams, scheduled for September 25 and 26, 2021. Please note: this date replaces the former fall exam date of October 16 for Family and Adult streams. 

The exam will be held over two days to safely accommodate all exam candidates:

Family candidates will be assigned randomly to either exam sitting; their assigned day will be communicated to them by early August. 

We will continue to monitor the status of the COVID-19 pandemic, and if needed, will communicate any further postponement of the exam by the end of July. We understand and appreciate the implications that a further delayed exam would have on practice, but for the safety of all those involved in the exam, we cannot run the exam until the physical distancing and gathering size restrictions have been lifted.
