Multisource feedback: MCC 360 pilot project

Seeking regular feedback on your practice is an important way to identify professional development opportunities and is a key element in BCCNM’s Quality Assurance program.

While BCCNM has had process for nurses to gather colleague feedback since 2018, the advanced scope and independent nature of practice for nurse practitioners and midwives requires a tool that can collect feedback from clients, in addition to colleagues and co-workers.

From March to December, 2025, the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) will pilot MCC 360, a tool for nurse practitioners (NPs) and midwives to gather this feedback.

MCC 360 pilot details

MCC 360 is tool originally developed by the Medical Council of Canada to enable physicians to seek feedback on their practice. To support BCCNM’s pilot of this tool, the Medical Council of Canada has developed new questionnaires to specifically reflect nurse practitioner or midwife practice.

Feedback the participants receive from colleagues and clients will be reviewed with a peer facilitator, who will help them identify opportunities to improve their practice. The feedback registrants receive is confidential to BCCNM’s Quality Assurance program.

Pilot details

Colleague and co-worker feedback
Once a pilot participant selects the colleagues and co-workers to get feedback from, MCC 360 does the rest. The colleagues and co-workers will be asked to submit their feedback through the appropriate questionnaire and will be sent reminders to submit if necessary.
Client feedback
Pilot participants will be provided with a link that they can make available to clients to complete the survey. The link can be provided to clients by email, through a tablet provided in-office, or through other methods determined by the pilot participant.
Feedback discussion
  • Colleague and client feedback will be summarized in a confidential, individualized report.
  • We will schedule a feedback discussion with a peer facilitator who will review your report with you to identify strengths, areas for practice improvement and professional development opportunities.
  • Discussions will be conducted virtually and are expected to take approximately 1 hour.
