On July 24, 2024, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a consent agreement between BCCNM and Martin Lapaire, RN of Cobble Hill, B.C. to address practice issues that occurred between June and August 2023 related to privacy breaches by accessing the clinical records of a family member and 13 co-workers when he was not entitled to view those records.
The registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to limit and/or conditions on their practice, including:
- A suspension of their nursing registration for seven days;
- A public reprimand;
- Remedial education in ethics and professionalism; and
- A standards and guidance consulting program to address the foundational issues underpinning this agreement.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
