On Jan. 5, 2026, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a consent agreement between BCCNM and Lawrence Lau of Vancouver to address practice issues that occurred on March 3, 2025, related to causing a patient to fall and not ensuring that the fall was appropriately documented.
Patient-centred care forms the basis of the trust essential to a nurse–patient relationship. Nurses must ensure that any physical interaction with a patient is therapeutic or follows appropriate protocols.
Where a nurse has caused a patient incident, the nurse must document it appropriately to ensure that all members of the care team have access to the information needed to support the patient.
The registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a limit and/or condition on his practice:
- A five-day suspension of his registration
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will address the professional and practice concerns that arose and will protect the public.
