On March 23, 2026, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a consent agreement between BCCNM and Camila Marquez of New Westminster, B.C., to address practice concerns from June to August 2025. Concerns were related to abandonment of or failure to escalate care, improper or incomplete documentation, failure to communicate appropriately, and a lack of responsibility and accountability.
The conduct was unsatisfactory, with respect to the following professional and practice standards that BCCNM set:
a. Duty to Provide Care,
b. Documentation,
c. Medication,
d. Ethical Practice,
e. Competency-based Practice,
f. Client-focused Provision of Service, and
g. Responsibility and Accountability.
BCCNM standards set expectations to ensure nurses are practising competently, ethically, responsibly, and safely. Nurses are accountable for their nursing decisions, actions, and professional conduct. Nurses must meet these standards in providing care to patients.
The registrant has voluntarily agreed to a 10-day suspension of practising registration for unprofessional conduct, a public reprimand for breaching the above-noted standards, and remedial education in targeted areas to address knowledge gaps.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will address the concerns and protect the public.
