On, March 31, 2026, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a consent agreement between BCCNM and Sarah Nordenlund-Rose to address practice issues that occurred in April and May 2024 related to withdrawing narcotics without documenting their administration, wastage, or return to stock, and related to attending work while not fit to practice nursing.
The appropriate withdrawal and handling of narcotics are important parts of safe nursing practices, as is the accurate documentation of medication administration. Nurses are at all times responsible for ensuring that they are fit to work, and for withdrawing from work if they are or become unfit to work.
The registrant has voluntarily agreed to the following terms to resolve the concerns about her practice:
a. A three-week suspension of their licence
b. Three months of indirect supervision
c. Remedial education targeted to address their knowledge gap
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will address the professional and practice concerns that arose and will protect the public.
