On March 31, 2020 a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNP and Xiao Yan Liang of Vancouver, B.C. to remediate practice issues related to basic IV maintenance and IV medication administration knowledge, provision of correct patient education, adherence to facility policy and procedures, knowledge of appropriate actions during acute situations, inability to manage a full patient assignment, being unreceptive when provided constructive feedback, and failing to ensure competence prior to performing procedures.
The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a condition on practice, including: to limit employment to a single non-acute area of practice; not to be the sole RN on duty; and not to work in the "in charge" position for 12 months. Additionally, the Registrant has agreed to undergo a six-month period of mentorship prior to commencement of providing independent patient care; complete education related to assessment, professional communication, Pharmacology and time management; undergo a Regulatory Practice Support consultation; and to develop and engage in a learning plan with the employer.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
