Chapman, Caroline, RN

Consent agreement

May 12, 2021

On May 12, 2021 a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and Caroline Chapman, RN, of Penticton, BC, to remediate practice issues that occurred on August 17, 2020, during a Code White with a pediatric patient who was experiencing mental distress. The Registrant engaged in argumentative dialog with the patient, improperly used a pillow as a spit guard and erred when referring to the Aboriginal Patient Navigator as an elder.

The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a condition on practice, including: a two-week suspension of her certificate of registration; a reprimand; a limit on practice that she shall not participate or attend code whites pending education; a referral to a Regulatory Practice Consultant at BCCNM; and completing remedial courses to address the concerns.

The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
