Consent agreement

Jan 10, 2023

On January 10, 2023, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and Katelynn Somerset, Registered Psychiatric Nurse, to address conduct issues that occurred between February and May 2021 related to entering into a sexual relationship with a highly vulnerable former patient shortly after their discharge from psychiatric care.

The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a limit and/or condition on their practice, including:

  1. A suspension of their nursing registration for six (6) months;
  2. Limits prohibiting their work environment and the types of duties they can undertake; and
  3. Remedial education in boundaries and professional accountability.

The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
