On June 9, 2023, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and Daniel Metzger of Nelson, B.C., to address practice issues that occurred between October and December 2021 related to their breach of boundaries, documentation, professional accountability, and ethics standards when the Registrant provided a report on behalf of clients that inferred a psychiatric diagnosis for third parties that they had never met. This conduct represented the lack of professional judgement and critical thinking expected of a registered psychiatric nurse.
The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a limit and/or condition on their practice, including:
- A public reprimand;
- A regulatory practice consulting program to address the foundational issues underpinning this agreement.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
