Poirier, Tara, RN

Consent agreement

Aug 3, 2023

On August 3, 2023, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and Tara Poirier of Langford to address practice issues that occurred in December 2021. While caring for a labouring person, the Registrant did not document numerous assessments or decisions, correctly interpret or classify fetal heart tracings, or appropriately titrate an oxytocin infusion and escalate clinical concerns.

The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to remedial terms and a limit on their practice, including:

  • A reprimand for unsatisfactory documentation and fetal health surveillance.
  • Remedial education in documentation, collaborative practice, and fetal health surveillance.
  • Chart audits to ensure translation of education into practice.
  • A limit prohibiting the Registrant from acting in-charge or mentoring students for three months.

The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
