Regulatory practice consultation
Regulatory Practice Consultation supports the identification, understanding, and application of BCCNM standards of practice and other regulatory considerations to nursing and midwifery situations.
Practice Consultation is provided upon request to anyone who has questions about nursing and midwifery practice in BC. This includes BCCNM registrants (licensed practical nurses, midwives, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and registered psychiatric nurses) and others including employers and other healthcare professionals.
Practice Consultation is one of the ways BCCNM meets its mandate of public protection by supporting BCCNM registrants to provide safe, competent, and ethical care .

BCCNM has the legal authority to collect personal information related to Regulatory Practice Consultations under FIPPA Section 26(c). Regulatory Practice Consultations are documented and stored and may be accessed by BCCNM at any time, including when a risk, or suspected risk to the public is identified. Individuals requesting BCCNM Regulatory Practice Consultation acknowledge and agree to this limitation of confidentiality.
