Beginning in 2022, midwives registered with BCCNM will complete an annual self-assessment questionnaire as part of registration renewal. The questionnaire is based on the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics and is an opportunity for midwives to complete a thorough assessment of their practice.
The questionnaire includes two items relating to cultural safety and humility. BCCNM has provided a
preliminary list of cultural safety and humility resources to support nurses and midwives in their practice.
We encourage midwives to review the questionnaire before they begin their registration renewal, and reflect on their answers.
