Cultural safety and humility

Note: The content on this page is the same for LPNs, NPs, RMs, RNs, and RPNs.

BCCNM and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C. have collaborated on a new standard, Indigenous Cultural Safety, Cultural Humility and Anti-Racism. This standard came into effect Feb. 25, 2022.

The Indigenous Cultural Safety, Cultural Humility, and Anti-racism Practice Standard Companion Guide was created to help nurses and midwives understand and apply the new practice standard. It incorporates Indigenous experiences to help nurses and midwives learn about culturally unsafe care and reflect on their own practice.

Below are resources that you may find helpful as you begin or continue your learning journey about Indigenous cultural safety, cultural humility, and anti-racism. This list will be added to so check back frequently. Resources listed are free to access unless otherwise noted.

BCCNM also collaborated with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC on a series of videos to support registrant learning. These videos are available below.
