Meeting your annual QA requirements

Midwives are lifelong learners, who are ultimately accountable and responsible for sustaining and enhancing their own knowledge, skills, judgement and competencies over a lifetime of practice. During registration renewal, you’ll complete the annual self-assessment questionnaire. It’s a good idea to review the questions beforehand and identify which areas of your practice you’d like to work on in the coming year.

Perinatal Services BC makes clinical practice updates

The WHO fetal growth chart will be the new standard for reporting fetal biometry for ultrasound facilities. And pregnancy dating by CRL will be assigned according to Robinson chart by ultrasound facilities. Effective immediately.

Did you know? NP regulation in Canada is changing

The role and practice of nurse practitioners has evolved since the profession started being regulated in the 1990s. The Nurse Practitioner Regulation Framework Implementation Plan Project is an initiative led by the Canadian Council of Registered Nurse Regulators to improve labour mobility, increase consistency, and enable the right level of regulation of NPs nationally.

Inquiry, Discipline, and Monitoring updates


BCCNM publishes a variety of professional conduct notices on its website. These notices include consent agreements, Discipline Committee and Inquiry Committee notices, and Inquiry and Discipline hearing notices. While all of these notices are public information, only exceptional outcomes (i.e., Inquiry Committee order, Discipline order, hearing outcome) and circumstances (i.e., discipline hearing) are highlighted in registrant newsletters.
