Changes to Midwifery Scope and Model of Practice and Philosophy of Care

The BCCNM board rescinded the Midwifery Scope and Model of Practice and Philosophy of Care, and approved corresponding amendments to several standards and policies. Effective July 4, 2025.

June is National Indigenous History Month, and June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day. These observances are an opportunity to celebrate and honour the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples across Canada.

Join B.C.’s Emergency Health Provider Registry

The Ministry of Health encourages you to consider registering with the Emergency Health Provider Registry (EHPR) to support emergency response in B.C.

The EHPR is an online registry of health-care professionals who may be available to be deployed on short notice. It is an important part of B.C.’s plan to ensure the health system is prepared to care for people in B.C. through any emergency.

Sharing draft standard feedback

In April, BCCNM surveyed midwives regarding the draft Consultation, Referral, and Transfer of Care practice standard. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share your thoughts and expertise on the draft. We are pleased to share what we learned.
