Unshakeable confidence in nursing and midwifery care
BCCNM's 2022 Annual Report
BCCNM is pleased to release its 2022 Annual Report.
This year, we celebrate Nursing Week from May 8-14 with the theme #OurNursesOurFuture. As Canada’s largest group of health-care professionals, we recognize the fundamental role that nurses play. From advocating for the most vulnerable among us, to conducting innovative research to help shape public policy, nurses contribute to every aspect of our health-care system.
You make a difference in the lives of patients, clients, and their families. Thank you for all you do to support the physical and mental health of British Columbians.
May update: NP regulation framework project
Have you heard about the NP regulation framework implementation project plan (NPR-FIPP), but aren’t sure what it is or how it impacts you? Visit the NPR-FIPP page on our website and check out the May project update.
New limits and conditions for applying X-rays
We amended the Nurse Practitioner Scope of Practice: Standards, Limits and Conditions to allow NPs who meet specific limits and conditions to apply X-rays for diagnostic imaging purposes. This change takes effect immediately.
Sharing the results of BCCNM's complaints process review
We are pleased to release the final report, which has recommendations for three broad areas: process changes, establishing relationships, and mandatory learning.
Have you watched the cultural safety & humility videos?
To help nurses and midwives understand and apply the Indigenous Cultural Safety, Cultural Humility and Anti-Racism practice standard, BCCNM collaborated with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC on a series of videos. This month, we're highlighting the video on creating safe health-care experiences.
Be sure to enrol in PRIME to maintain PharmaNet access
Nurses who access PharmaNet to provide patient care should now be enrolled in PRIME. If you have not yet enrolled, please enrol now to maintain your PharmaNet access; it may be removed without a PRIME approval.
Inquiry, Discipline, and Monitoring updates
BCCNM publishes a variety of professional conduct notices on its website. These notices include consent agreements, Discipline Committee and Inquiry Committee notices, and Inquiry and Discipline hearing notices. While all of these notices are public information, only exceptional outcomes (i.e., Inquiry Committee order, Discipline order, hearing outcome) and circumstances (i.e., discipline hearing) are highlighted in registrant newsletters.
PAST HEARING DECISIONS
BCCNM's office will be closed on Monday, May 22 for Victoria Day. We will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23.
