Consent agreement

Sep 22, 2024

On Sept. 22, 2024 a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a consent agreement between BCCNM and the registrant related to a breach of their previous consent agreements due to a relapse of a substance use disorder.

The registrant was diagnosed with and admitted to a disability with a causal relationship to the breach via an independent medical report. The registrant has engaged in all treatment recommendations to date and has been deemed by their treating physician to be fit to return to work with ongoing treatment and monitoring in place.

The registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a limit and/or condition on their practice, including:

  1. Regular reports from treating physicians regarding compliance with treatment recommendations;
  2. Disclosure of treatment recommendations to relevant employer representative(s);
  3. A limit requiring that their administration of narcotics be supervised for a period;
  4. A limit on not working overtime, working regular shifts, and not working nights for a period;
  5. Developing a learning plan, which will be shared with their employer and with BCCNM.

The agreement will remain in place for a minimum of three years of continuous nursing practice.

The name of the registrant has been withheld in accordance with section 39.3 (4) (a) of the Health Professions Act for the purposes of not identifying a registrant or their personal health information respecting the condition that impaired their ability to practice nursing or midwifery.

The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
