On June 20, 2019 a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNP and Elizabeth Gumboc of Surrey, to remediate competence concerns arising from November 2016 to August 2017. Specifically, the Registrant scored 34% on a basic, open-book critical care exam, erred at least five times when programming or operating IV pumps infusing inotropes and/or insulin, failed to intervene when a patient had escalating symptoms of withdrawal, and initiated a Propofol infusion on a non-ventilated patient. The Registrant voluntarily converted to non-practicing registration in the course of the investigation.
The Registrant has agreed not to apply for conversion to practising registration until certain terms are met, including successful completion of a nursing refresher course. Upon a return to work, the Registrant will complete a minimum of 96 hours of clinical orientation followed by a four month (or equivalent) period of supervised practice.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
