On July 20, 2020, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNP and Viera Prielozna of Victoria, B.C., to remediate practice issues related to her care of two residents in an Assisted Living facility from March to June 2019. The Registrant twice entered a client's residence without consent, and once found a client sleeping on the ground surrounded by bodily fluids. She spoke to the client but did no physical assessment, administered his medications, and left. An ambulance was called almost one hour later when the client remained on the ground. The Registrant did not complete an incident report or include the incident in her shift report that day.
The Registrant voluntarily agreed to relinquish her nursing registration and to not apply for reinstatement of registration for a minimum of five years. If reinstatement is sought in the future, she will be required to meet the character, competence and fitness requirements of registration. The Registration Committee will have access to Inquiry and Discipline's investigative record and any other records it deems relevant in BCCNP possession.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
