On October 13, 2020, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and Maureen Maher of Port Coquitlam, B.C., to remediate practice issues that occurred in November 2015 and June to July 2019 related to breach of patient privacy by sending confidential patient information to her personal email address and storing those documents on her home computer, providing her personal email address to a patient, accessing the medical records of a patient with whom she had no professional relationship, attending the facility and accessing medical records while on scheduled leave, and working after hours without permission.
The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a condition on practice, including: a suspension of 21 days, a public reprimand, educational coursework, and sessions with a Regulatory Practice Consultant.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
