On October 30, 2020, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNP and Irina Ungvitskaya of Port Coquitlam, BC, to remediate practice issues that occurred on November 8, 2019 related to her failing to adequately manage a dementia patient's pain, failing to make relevant records in relation to the care of a dementia patient, and slapping a dementia patient in response to being bitten by that patient.
The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a condition on practice, including:
- A three-week suspension from practice,
- Completing remedial education and regulatory practice consultations,
- Limiting their practice away from units that primarily treat psycho-geriatric patients, or that focus on behavioral stabilization until they have completed the required remedial education and concluded their consultation with a practice consultant, and
- For a period of six months, working only when there is another regulated nursing professional physically present in the same unit or facility.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
