On November 27, 2020 a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and Alexandra (Aly) Wallace of Bowen Island, BC to remediate concern arising from an incident occurring in March 2020.
Specifically, during a shift in a hospital emergency department, the Registrant took a photograph with their cell phone of an electronic patient record, which did not include identifying personal information of the patient. However, the photograph contained information about the patient's unusual medical condition. The Registrant found the patient's medical condition to be “funny" and forwarded the photograph to third parties via Instagram chat (i.e. private texts). The Registrant also made disparaging comments about the patient via chat.
The terms of the Consent Agreement include a public reprimand and a BCCNM Regulatory Practice Consultation. The Registrant also voluntarily completed relevant remedial education prior to the Inquiry Committee's disposition.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
