Consent agreement

Feb 22, 2021

On February 22, 2021 a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and RN Scarlett Szalontai of Surrey, B.C. to remediate issues that occurred 2019 related to, among other concerns, failing to disclose a pending criminal charge to the College.

In February 2019 when renewing registration with the College, the Registrant answered a question about pending criminal charges in the negative.  The charge was stayed in October 2019.

The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a condition on practice, including: a public reprimand and robust ethics education.

The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.

Registrants must be aware of their reporting obligations under the Criminal Records Review Act. Those obligations are triggered when a registrant is charged or convicted of a specified or relevant offence as defined in the legislation, and include a requirement to promptly report the charge or conviction to the College.
