On June 25, 2021 a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and Clifford Fauteux, RN, of Powell River, BC, to address practice issues that occurred on February 3, 2021 related to breaching patient privacy and confidentiality when he disclosed to a third party that a former patient had been admitted to a psychiatry unit. The third party was not part of the former patient’s clinical team and was in an employment relationship with the former patient.
The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a limit and/or condition on their practice, including:
a) | A suspension of their nursing registration for four weeks. |
b) | Remedial education covering topics of professional accountability and professional standards. |
c) | A regulatory practice consulting program to address the foundational issues underpinning this Agreement. |
