Powers, Stephanie Elizabeth, RN

Consent agreement

Sep 2, 2021

On September 2, 2021 a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and Stephanie Elizabeth Powers of Rossland, B.C., to remediate practice issues that occurred between June 17, 2019 and November 3, 2019 when she worked for the HART program as a transport nurse for Interior Health. Ms. Powers did not meet the Interior Health and HART program's Standards of Care when she failed to ensure a respiratory therapist was on the transport for a patient with major trauma when it was indicated. She also undermined the medical team's plan of care on several occasions, failed to facilitate effective health care team communication, made derogatory comments in the workplace, and failed to provide timely transport for a critically ill patient.

The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a condition on practice, including: a seven-day suspension, a public reprimand, a Regulated Practice Consultation, and educational coursework in Professional Standards, Communication and Ethical Practice.

The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
