Consent agreement

Feb 2, 2023

On February 2, 2023, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and the Registrant to address issues that occurred in November 2021 related to diverting narcotics for personal use while off-duty. The Registrant was diagnosed with and admitted to a disability with a causal relationship to the practice issues via an independent medical report and has agreed to comply with treatment recommendations.

The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a limit and/or condition on their practice, including:

  1. Regular reports from treating physicians regarding compliance with treatment recommendations;
  2. Disclosure of treatment recommendations to relevant employer representative(s);
  3. A limit impacting access to and handling of narcotics, with concurrent medical monitoring, to support the stable return to fitness to practice;
  4. Limits on working overtime and night shifts and practising in high acuity or critical care areas; and
  5. Remedial education in documentation.

The Agreement will remain in place for five years of continuous nursing practice.

The name of the Registrant has been withheld in accordance with section 39.3 (4) (a) of the Health Professions Act for the purposes of not identifying the personal health information of the Registrant respecting the condition.

The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
