Consent agreement

​​On April 11, 2023, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and a registrant to address issues occurring from January 2021 through April 2022 related to the registrant's unprofessional conduct, poor medication practices, and requests that coworkers supply them with hospital medications. The Registrant underwent an independent medical exam, was diagnosed with and admitted to a disability with a causal relationship to some practice issues, and agreed to comply with treatment recommendations. 

The Registrant has voluntarily​ agreed to the following terms:

  1. ​Suspension of nursing registration for two months.
  2. Relapse prevention and medical monitoring activities for three years.
  3. Thirteen months of restricted access to narcotics and controlled drugs, and associated medication audits.
  4. Limits prohibiting overtime and being in charge for six months and supervision of students for one year.
  5. Remedial education in client-focused care, communication, and ethics, and sensitivity training.
  6. Consultation with a BCCNM regulatory practice consultant.

​The Agreement will remain in place for four years.

​The name of the registrant has been withheld in accordance with section 39.3 (4) (a) of the Health Professions Act for the purposes of not identifying the personal health information of the registrant respecting the condition. 

The Inquiry Committee is​ satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
