On May 19, 2023,  a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and a registrant to address issues occurring from January 2021 to June 2022 related to narcotic diversion for on-duty, personal use. The registrant was diagnosed with a disability with a causal relationship to the practice issues via an independent medical report. They made admissions and have agreed to comply with treatment recommendations.

The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a limit on their practice, including:

  • A minimum of three years of medical monitoring.

  • A two-year restriction on accessing and handling narcotics.

  • Disclosure of treatment recommendations to relevant employer representative(s).

  • No voluntary overtime for the equivalent of six months of nursing practice.

The Agreement will remain in place for a minimum of four years.

The name of the registrant has been withheld in accordance with section 39.3 (4) (a) of the Health Professions Act for the purposes of not identifying the personal health information of the registrant respecting the condition.

The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
