On July 26, 2023, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and the Registrant wherein the Registrant agreed to address practice issues that occurred in April 2022 related to their improper handling and wasting of narcotic medications. The Registrant agreed to limits and conditions on their nursing practice to ensure their fitness to practice. The terms of the Consent Agreement include but are not limited to:
- Regular reports from treating physicians regarding compliance with treatment recommendations;
- Disclosure of treatment recommendations to relevant employer representative(s);
- A limit precluding them from working overtime and on night shifts; and
- Remedial measures to improve medication administration, documentation, and professional responsibility.
The reasons for the Inquiry Committee decision are as follows:
- The Registrant provided independent expert medical evidence that demonstrated that the medication administration and documentation practice deficits were causally related to a health condition.
The Agreement will remain in place for a minimum of three years of continuous nursing practice.
The name of the Registrant has been withheld in accordance with section 39.3 (4) (a) of the Health Professions Act for the purposes of not identifying the personal health information of the Registrant respecting the condition.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
