On Sept. 8, 2023, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and Olubukunola Olatunji, LPN, of Surrey, B.C., to address practice issues that occurred between June and Dec. 2022 related to a generalized lack of nursing knowledge, inadequate patient assessments, lack of appropriate follow-up on abnormal patient findings, unsafe medication administration, lack of relevant patient details in shift report, not obtaining ordered tests, and inadequate documentation.
The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a limit and/or condition on their practice, including:
Indirect supervision of their nursing practice for 6 months;
- A limit prohibiting them from having more than one employer, working in an independent position {such as home/community care, etc.) or being the sole nurse on duty;
- Remedial education in documentation, medication administration and a formalized competency enhancement course;
- Development of a learning plan.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
