What you need to know
Timelines and deadlines
Renewal open:
Feb. 1 unless otherwise noted
Renewal close:
Registration renewal closes at 4:30 p.m. on March 1.
unless the date falls on the weekend or a holiday
. In that case, the renewal deadline is 4:30 p.m. on the last weekday of the month.
Deadline for submission of required proof of continuing competencies certification or recertification:

The renewal application: What to expect
It will take 30-60 minutes to complete your application. You'll be asked to:
Indicate what class of registration you are renewing for April 1 (Practising Midwife, Provisional Midwife or Non-practising)
Review and/or update your personal information
Review and/or update your practice information
Review and/or update your hospital privileges
Provide information about any criminal charges or convictions over the past year
Consent to a criminal record check (if applicable)
Meet your quality assurance requirements (including clinical experience and continuing competencies
Acknowledge you have read and understand all of the consent and declaration requirements
Pay your renewal fee

Registration renewal fees are set on an annual basis by the BCCNM Board.

What happens if you don't renew on time
If you do not renew by the deadline, your registration will expire. You must not practise as a midwife unless you hold practising registration.
To regain your registration status, you will need to apply to reinstate your registration ($230+GST) in addition to paying your registration fees.
Unregistered practice:
If you practise without practising registration, even accidentally, you are participating in unregistered practice and will be subject to an additional $325+GST surcharge to reinstate your registration.

How to renew your registration
1. Gather the information you need
The email address you provided to BCCNM
Your account password
NRP, ES, CPR, and FHS certificates (if applicable)
The list of hospitals where you hold privileges and/or are applying for privileges
Your payment information (
see payment options
)
2. Complete the renewal application
Sign in to your BCCNM account
Click the "renew" button
Complete the online application form
3. Submit your payment
After completing your application form, you will pay your fees using one of the secure online
payment options

4. Wait for confirmation of registration from BCCNM
Once you submit your completed application and pay your renewal fee, BCCNM Registration staff will assess your application to ensure you meet the registration requirements.
If your application is approved, you will be sent a confirmation of registration email to the email address on file with BCCNM.
Until you receive this email, your renewal application is still in progress and has not been approved.

Your application won't be assessed until you submit your completed application and payment. Before calling to check on the status of your application, please:
